Colored wire
There has been a few things on my mind lately and they concern wire jewelry.
1.Art is art no matter what you use even if was yesterdays trash en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Found_ar…
2.I think it is harder to work with colored wire than the regular wire of silver, gold or copper. Colored wire if marked will show and the color and will peel off.
3.Jewelry should be fun!!!
4.The process of making jewelry should not be weighed down by how $$$ much can I get for this.
5.I think that many people are afraid to show what they did in a "cheaper wire" for fear they will not be taken seriously as a wire jewelry artist.
6.If people today where to take a look at the master arts of the past that people pay $$$$$$ for and collect they would realize that many thing were done with what was available at the time aka cheep paint, stones etc.
I just wrote this letter to someone who was wondering if I had a market for colored jewelry. I think it is very important that other people see my answer too.
Hello, I live in Puerto Rico and all the women here are just crazy about color. There is also a new trend going on in the local jewelry stores Clairs and Exccentric with aluminum colored wire hand made pendents being sold, and I mean a lot, they have so much a whole wall is dedicated to just wire jewelry, It is all being imported from china from some very talented wire benders and sold dirt cheep, so I look for this to start happening very soon in the states. Also around here the culture is very vivid people so in order to make it here you have to be able to keep up with the current market. I also teach locally here at a community center and all my students by and sell the colored wire. Another thing that figures in to all this is that people just don't have money anymore so costume jewelry is the trend for now. I hope this helps. Thanks Linda
This is just a few thing that I got wrote for now but stay tuned I am sure there will be more.
